The Table Men’s Shelter is going to be open on December 5th. This news comes from President Heather Berg, who says they have now received the occupancy permit. She calls it a bittersweet announcement.

On a Facebook post to the Table Soup Kitchen’s page, Berg says JC Fenc didn’t die in vain, as many have been inspired to demand action, encourage change, and offer help.

She says the 39-year-old’s death was preventable, but has helped to prioritize the need for an emergency shelter in Muskoka.

The Men’s Shelter may have an opening date, but volunteers are still needed. Email [email protected] to get involved. Berg says you can also RSVP and come out to one of their volunteer training sessions, which are happening on Saturday, November 26th from 10:00am to 12:00pm, and Saturday, December 3rd from 10:00am to 12:00pm.
