Muskoka Lakes councillor shocked to find Bala historical tree cut down

A piece of Bala heritage has been cut down and can never be replaced says one local councillor.
On Thursday morning, Muskoka Lakes Township Councillor Sandy Currie says he returned to the site where a crew was clearing trees for Swift River Current, and the Native Marker Tree was cut down.
Currie says he is outraged at the fact that this tree was cut down without any warning.
He is now trying to get the attention of the Ontario Minister of Aboriginal Affairs, David Zimmer, to put stage an intervention on clearing away the rest of the land.
