Two charged for stunt driving in separate incidents in Georgian Bay

Two drivers are facing stunt driving charges after being caught by the same officer along Hwy. 400 in the Township of Georgian Bay.

Provincial Const. David Hobson with the Southern Georgian Bay detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police says the first driver, a 22-year-old man from Parry Sound, was clocked going 160 km/h along Hwy. 400 near Honey Harbour Rd. on April 26.

The speed limit along the highway is set at 100 km/h.

Hobson explains the driver was charged stunt driving, going 50 km/h over the speed limit, having an illegal tint on his windows, having open liquor in the vehicle, and having it within arm’s reach. As well, the man’s vehicle was towed and will be impounded for two weeks while the man’s driver’s license was suspended for a month.

Two days later, Hobson says the officer was patrolling Hwy. 400 when they spotted a 23-year-old from Toronto going 154 km/h on Hwy. 400. After pulling him over near Go Home Lake Rd., he says the officer realized the driver only had a G2 driver’s license.

Hobson adds he was charged with stunt driving and going 50 km/h over the speed limit.

Like with the first incident, Hobson shares the driver’s vehicle was towed and impounded for two weeks and his license was suspended for a month.
