A cottage in Lake of Bays was destroyed by fire this morning.
Mike Vadlja with the Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department says firefighters responded to a call on South Portage Road around 2:30am. They arrived to find the cottage “fully involved” and had to call in backup.
Although the cottage was a complete loss fire crews were able to keep the blaze from spreading to nearby buildings. Vadlja says no one was in it at the time as it was being renovated. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this point. Damage is estimated at $350,000.
