Police have confirmed the body found in the Township of Georgian Bay is of 60-year-old Eric Spencer.
Provincial Const. David Hobson says they were found on April 21 in a wooded area near the intersection of South Bay Rd. and Honey Harbour Rd. by the volunteer search organization Please Bring Me Home.
He adds no foul play is suspected.
“The OPP wishes to thank the community members who assisted in this investigation,” says Hobson.
Hobson says Spencer was reported missing on Oct. 17, 2018, after last being seen in the same area where the body was found.
When Spencer first went missing, Hobson shared a number of the Ontario Provincial Police’s search and rescue resources were called in, including a K-9 unit and a helicopter. The search started on Oct. 18 but was “scaled back” a few days later.
