HHS silent auction on Friday supporting First Nations communities

Huntsville High School (HHS) will hold a silent auction on Friday to support community projects.

The school’s Helping Hands Group will be at the Huntsville Kelsey’s from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. raising money for the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund.

“Lots of options there—there are quilts and photography that has been submitted, lots of artworks, jewelry,” says HHS teacher Samantha Nadrofsky-Green. “And a big topic that everyone is interested in are two [Toronto Blue Jays] game tickets.” She adds they’ll also have gift certificates from local businesses.

Nadrofsky-Green says all proceeds from the auction and 10 per cent of food sales that night will support First Nations communities and projects through the fund.

She adds the Helping Hands Group was started by students this year to get more involved in the community and volunteer their time.
