Muskoka Lakes approves 2018 budget with 6.05 per cent tax increase

You’ll see a few more dollars added to your tax bill in Muskoka Lakes this year.

On February 16th, council approved the $11.3 million budget, which comes with a tax increase of 6.05 per cent. That means a $100,000 home will see an increase of about $7 on their municipal tax bill. Officials say five per cent of this budget will go into a dedicated capital fund to help with future infrastructure costs.

But, officials the town will continue to face a funding challenge as projected costs over the next ten years are expected to be higher than what the town has in reserves.
