Huntsville man charged with drug and firearm possession after a hotel room search

A Huntsville man is facing a number of charges following a call about abandoned dogs. The OPP was called on Tuesday about two dogs that had been left in a local hotel room, and so they went to check it out and get the dogs as there was concern for their safety.

The OPP says officers found the hotel room in disarray. They found drug paraphernalia and a modified shot gun. They also found the dogs to be in good health, and didn’t take them away.

The OPP has charged a 26-year-old man with possession of a prohibited firearm, possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order, careless storage of a firearm, and possession of a schedule one substance. He has a court date in March.

The OPP is asking anyone with information to call 705-789-5551 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS)
