A Huntsville woman who was injured during an arrest was not a victim of police brutality.
This comes from the Special Investigations Unit after it was brought in when the woman was found to have a broken rib and collapsed lung after she was arrested in Huntsville for public intoxication.
On May 14th, Huntsville OPP was called to Chaffey Street when the woman was spotted making a scene. According to the SIU report, she fought against officers while they were trying to arrest her. After she was brought to the detachment she complained of pain in her chest and was brought to the hospital.
After speaking with witnesses, officers and the woman, SIU officials say she had caused the injuries after tripping on the sidewalk on her own during the arrest.
SIU is brought in for an internal investigation after a suspect is seriously injured or killed during an arrest.
