A Bracebridge man is being fined $25,000 for abandoning a renovation job he was hired for.
Douglas Barber pleaded guilty to unfair practice under the Consumer Protection Act on March 31st.
In 2013, Barber was paid $26,000 to renovate a cottage through his business DDB.
After a bit of work was done, Barber dropped the job and promised to refund the cottage owner, which never happened.
On top of his fine, he’s also been put on probation for two years and has to do 60 hours of community service.
