A conversation started by the Bracebridge Mayor at the AMO annual meeting has spurred an official response from a group of municipalities.
Graydon Smith says, during the meeting in Niagara Falls, he had broached the subject of Muskoka becoming part of Northern Ontario with some colleagues.
The District of Muskoka received a letter from the Federation of Northern Municipalities explaining their concern over Muskoka joining the north, as it would end up taking a chunk of their funding from the provincial government.
Smith says he would react the same way and that this is an ideal way to identify issues like these that may come up in a more formal discussion on the matter.
