The federal government has made a huge contribution to healthy water in Parry Sound today. This morning at the Museum on Tower Hill, our MP Tony Clement announced $8 million in funding for 32 environmental projects that will improve the ecosystem health of the Lake Simcoe and South-eastern Georgian Bay watersheds. The money marks the second round of funding under the renewed and expanded Lake Simcoe/South-eastern Georgian Bay Clean-up Fund and Clement explains the purpose of the fund.

One of those local groups is Georgian Bay Biosphere Reserve which will receive $191,305 to work with three municipalities over two years and General Manager at the GBBR Greg Mason explains the project.

Mason hopes that the work will provide an update to residents and upper levels of government on the status of the Georgian Bay coast.
