HUNTSVILLE, ON- The body of a man who went missing while swimming in Peninsula Lake has been found.
That’s according to a report from CTV Barrie, which indicates the man’s body was found this afternoon by the OPP search and recovery team.
Police had been searching the area for the man after he and his son were separated from their boat on the lake yesterday evening. The boy’s mother had been in the boat while the father and son went for a swim, and the vessel floated away when the wind picked up.
The mother was unable to restart the boat, and called 911 for help.
The boy was found yesterday evening, and taken to hospital as a precaution. He has been reported to be uninjured.
The OPP marine search and rescue team, helicopter, and divers continued the search throughout the evening and called it off at dusk. They resumed it this morning, operating out a launch near the Tally-Ho Inn.
With the body recovered, the search has been ended.
