Deadline set for Bracebridge flood relief registration

BRACEBRIDGE, ON- Anyone impacted by the spring flooding in Bracebridge needs to make themselves known to the town.

According to the town’s the municipal government, over 1,000 local properties were affected by floods this spring.

Earlier this month, the municipal administration had started putting together a committee to deliver donations received during the disaster.

Councillors had agreed members should be recruited from local organizations to create the 2019 Flood Relief Committee.

The town collected over $46,000 in donations, ranging as high as $10,000 from single organizations.

The deadline to register for that aid has now been set.

“Bracebridge residents that were impacted by the recent flooding events, and are in need of financial assistance for recovery activities, are encouraged to register by contacting the Town of Bracebridge at 705-645-6319 ext. 262 and be prepared with basic information for residents of the impacted property,” read a news release from the town issued this week.

The deadline for registration is July 26th, 2019.

“The Canadian Red Cross has been registering Bracebridge residents since the onset of the flooding events,” read the release.

“If residents have already registered with the Canadian Red Cross, there is nothing further that is required at this time.  Registrants will be contacted directly to advise of next steps.”

The flood relief committee will be putting together a basic package for all registrants to complete.
