Snow squall watch in effect

Update: All watches and warnings have ended for Muskoka

A snow squall watch is in effect for the Parry Sound and Muskoka areas.

Environment Canada says Bracebridge, Gravenhurst, Huntsville, Baysville, Port Carling, Port Severn, the Town of Parry Sound, Rosseau and Killbear Park can all expect to see snow squalls late this evening.

The lake effect squalls will develop over Lake Huron and Georgian Bay and then head eastward. Environment Canada says about 10 centimetres of snow is expected to fall by tomorrow morning. The snow squall bands are then expected to move southeast of Georgian Bay as winds become northwesterly.

The heavy, blowing snow is going to make for some dangerous driving conditions. That’s because of lowered visibility, quick accumulation, and sudden changes in the weather. During snow squalls, you could be driving in clear weather and then run into blasts of snow a kilometre down the road. You may want to postpone any non-essential travel plans.

MyMuskokaNow.com is monitoring the storm and will keep you updated.
