YWCA Girlz Unplugged Gets $2,000 Gift from Kiwanis Huntsville

A donation from the Kiwanis Club will help young girls in Muskoka.

The YWCA Muskoka Girlz Unplugged program is receiving $2,000 from the Kiwanis Club of Huntsville following a recent fundraiser. The money will help establish the program at Riverside Public School in Huntsville.

Girlz Unplugged is a program designed for girls from grade 5 to grade 8 offered at schools throughout Muskoka. The idea is to help girls to thrive, identify healthy relationships in their lives, along with building self-worth and strategies for dealing with stress and anxiety.

“Girlz Unplugged really made me confident and a lot stronger. I loved how we had a voice and that we were important to everyone,”  an unidentified program participant was quoted in a press release.

There is a cheque presentation at Riverside Public School on Tuesday, November 13th at 10:45am. To learn more about the program you can go to the YWCA Muskoka website.
