Lock down and search continues for Beaver Creek Institution in Gravenhurst

A lock down and search is in effect at Beaver Creek Institution’s medium unit in Gravenhurst. Correctional Service Canada says at around 10pm on Tuesday, a lock down was put in place to enable staff members to conduct a search. The search was ordered to ensure the safety and security of the institution, its staff and inmates. Normal operations will resume as soon as it is considered safe to do so.  Visits will be suspended until the search is completed. Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) says the institution is committed to preventing the entry of contraband into its institutions.
