Huntsville to get a free concert this summer

Huntsville is one of 23 communities in Ontario getting a free summer concert. The provincial government is hosting an ON Tour starting on June 25th, to celebrate Ontario’s 150th anniversary.

The concert is in Huntsville on August 16th, and government officials say there will no cost to concert-goers of all ages, or the need for any tickets. The final details on who will be performing and where in town it will be happening are still being worked out.

However, the province has released a general idea of the artists that are part of the tour, but the details on which performer will be in which city aren’t confirmed.

Those Ontario artists include the Jim Cuddy Band, Serena Ryder, Kim Mitchell, The Tea Party, Magic!, Tom Cochrane, James Barker Band, Our Lady Peace, Big Wreck, Kardinal Offishall, The Philospher Kings, Barenaked Ladies, Mélanie Brulée, USS, Alx Veliz, Anjulie, Jonathan Roy, Coleman Hell, Scott Helman, Rivertown Saints, Michelle Treacy, Francesco Yates, DJ Shub, Karl Wolf, Next Generation Leahy, Tyler Shaw, Midnight Shine, and Mia Martina.

The province-wide is tour is costing around $3 million, and officials say it’s part of a plan to attract tourism. The Ontario 150 fund has $100 million in it in total, some of which is going towards events and some will go towards creating lasting projects, like upgrading infrastructure.
