Bracebridge man fined $1,400 for fishing violations

A Bracebridge area man’s been fined $1,400 for fishing violations. In court on July 15th, Kyle Matthew Crawford pleaded guilty to fishing without a licence.  He had caught and kept six walleye while fishing in Lake Muskoka. Anglers with a sport fishing licence are allowed to catch a maximum of four walleye in Fisheries Management Zone 15. Court heard that on June 5th a ministry conservation officer and a Bracebridge OPP officer inspected anglers at a public wharf at Boyd Bay. They found that Crawford had three walleye on the wharf and another three in his vehicle parked nearby. Crawford did not have a fishing licence. His rod and reel were forfeited to the Crown and the fish were donated to a local non-profit organization.
