Applications are being accepted for a provincial program to help boost tourism

The Ontario government is helping Muskoka boost tourism and create jobs. The province’s Rural Economic Development Program is once again taking applications from local organizations, including non-profits.

The RED program puts money into projects that will help grow the local economy. Last year, 38 community projects were approved, three of which were in Muskoka. That includes the Muskoka Tourism Marketing Agency, which got around $48,000 to create a brand strategy to make the district a year-round tourism hotspot.

Applications for this year are being accepted until the end of March.
