UPDATED: Many Bracebridge residents unhappy over silence at the Clock Tower

The Bracebridge Clock Tower has recently been silenced and reports point to a bylaw complaint, although this has not been confirmed by the town.
Clock Tower owner Martin Sheffield recently finished renovations on the clock and had the iconic bell ringing once again.
Since the clock has been turned off, many residents say they feel like a piece of Bracebridge has been shut down as well.
Town staff has confirmed that Sheffield has submitted an exemption for the noise bylaw and this will be brought forward to General Committee either on September 20th or October 11th.
Town CAO John Sisson explains that once this motion has been discussed and a recommendation has been made, it will be ratified during the council meeting the following week.

If a resident is against the recommendation made by General Committee, a delegation can be heard during that council meeting.

However, the request to appear as a delegation has to be sent to the Clerk’s Office, in writing, by the Thursday before that council meeting.

Delegations can’t be heard during General Committee or the Planning and Development Committee meetings.

Moose FM will have an update once both of these meeting dates have been confirmed.
