Local Fire Department Implementing Zero Tolerance Policy for Preventable Alarms

The local fire department is putting its foot down when it comes to preventable alarms.

Officials say in the last three years, crews have been dispatched to service calls for fire alarms that do not go through the test cycle. Fire Chief Steve Hernen explains who they are targeting with these zero tolerance notices.

He says carelessness may lead to a hefty fine.

Hernen adds if the fines are not paid within 30 days, they will be added to the individual’s taxes.
