Muskoka Algonquin Health Care is starting a new nursing patient program in honour of National Nursing Week. Bev McFarlane, Chief Quality and Nurse Executive at MAHC says, this year’s National Nursing Week theme is Nursing: A leading force for change. McFarlane says MAHC created the program with a new type of nurse called a Patient Experience Nurse. During a patient’s health care experience, patients will now speak with a nurse about their safety goals including how they’ll get home. Once the patient gets home, the nurse will then continue to touch base with the patient and their family to make sure everyone is aware of the patient’s health care plan and that the patient is happy.
