Flood Watch in Effect for the Muskoka Region

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry has issued a flood watch for the District of Muskoka.

Officials say water levels are expected to rise in lakes and rivers following significant rainfall.

Flows in the North and South Branch Muskoka Rivers could rise over the next few days. Water levels are also predicted to rise out of Lake Muskoka and into the Bala Reach where the MNR expects to see levels rise to 200 centimetres.

Residents affected by high water conditions in the past are asked to take the necessary precautions to protect their properties.

The MNR will be closely monitoring the weather and the developing watershed conditions.
