Woodstove ashes were determined to be the cause of a small fire at a home in Huntsville.
Crews from the Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department attended a home on West Browns Road on Monday afternoon where fire was found in the wall of a basement and it had extended to the outside.
They say the cause was from improperly discharging woodstove ashes and the estimated cost of damages is estimated to be $15,000.
The fire department is reminding homeowners to put their ashes in a covered medal container and to keep them at least 20 feet from any combustible surfaces.
