Road to Ryde to be unveiled May 3rd
The ‘Road to Ryde’ will be officially unveiled in early May. The Ryde Community Co-op says the Ryde Barn Quilt Trail was created to honor pioneer antecedents of the original independent Township of Ryde, which was incorporated in 1879. The trail is a loop of paved road with two spurs – it’s made of ‘barn quilts’, which are plywood panels painted in traditional quilt square patterns mounted on heritage buildings and properties. The opening happens May 3rd and starts at 1005 Taverner Road at 10:30am. Mayor Paisley Donaldson and others will be there. Guests will be able to hop on board a bus for a guided tour with a stop at the Co-op for refreshments. Ryde’s 135th anniversary is also being celebrated this year with the trail and a huge celebration happening August 16th.
