Carbon monoxide leak detected early in Gravenhurst home

A family in Gravenhurst may have avoided a serious incident when their carbon monoxide alarm went off.
On Monday the detector went off in a mobile home at the Sun Park Beaver Ridge.
At the time, none of the people in the home felt sick, which is a common symptom of carbon monoxide poisoning.
After airing the detector outside and replacing the batteries, the homeowner found it was still going off.
He contacted the Gravenhurst Fire Department which used special equipment to detect high levels of carbon monoxide in the home.
It was later discovered the heater exchange in the furnace had cracked and was leaking the deadly gas.
Gravenhurst Fire Chief Larry Brassard is applauding the homeowner for being responsible and using a carbon monoxide detector.
