A group in Ryde is looking for any support it can get to keep ownership of it’s only community centre.
The Ryde Community Centre was put up for sale, by owner Trillium Lakelands District School Board, after the government ordered all school boards to sell off surplus.
Volunteer with the centre, Jennie Nice, says they have been able to raise $50,000 but they still need to raise $75,000 to make a minimum bid for the property.
Nice says the group has had some support from local organizations and individuals but it still has a long way to go and not much time left.
The tender on the property closes on December 17th.
