LHIN asks for more community input on healthcare upgrade plan

The Local Health Integration Network is asking for more input from municipalities when planning the future of healthcare in Muskoka.
Mayor Graydon Smith reported that the organization had supported the plan to move forward with updating services available to the region, but is not necessarily supporting the plan to have one hospital in place of the current two.
LHIN is suggesting that Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare and the municipalities in Muskoka can work with the organization to plan out what is the best option for the district.
Recently, the municipalities approached LHIN requesting it reject the proposal for a one hospital plan to replace the aging facilities of the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital and the Huntsville Hospital.
