Housing needed to help bring new recruits to Bracebridge and Huntsville hospitals

Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) is looking for community support to help them find housing for new recruits.

“One thing that’s been very clear is there are people looking for work,” says Brody Purser, Associate Vice President of People for MAHC. “They are looking for work in Muskoka.”

The problem, he says, is they can’t find a place to live. MAHC’s House for Healthcare campaign has been launched in hopes of solving that issue. “We know that recruiting team members can be more difficult if they can’t find housing that meets their needs locally,” he continues.

Purser asks anyone interested to fill out a form on MAHC’s website detailing what they’re offering and at what price. The program is supporting the Huntsville District Memorial and the South Muskoka Memorial Hospitals.

“As we receive these rental opportunities from the public, we can provide an inventory to our healthcare workers who are looking for space and they can reach out directly to the renter,” explains Purser. “It’s a win-win for anyone looking for tenants and for us to help new recruits make their move to Muskoka. By working together, we can create a home for healthcare workers and support hospital staff recruitment.”

He points out that while it’s difficult for those moving to town to find a place to live, it can also be difficult for renters to find someone suitable. “We want to make it easier for both sides,” says Purser.

Purser says you can call him at 705-645-4404 extension 3110 for more details on the program.
