YWCA Girlz Unplugged program is getting boosted by the province

A program that helps Muskoka girls build confidence is getting a leg up from the province.
The YWCA recently received over $300,000 from the Ontario Trillium Fund for the Girlz Unplugged program.
Parry Sound-Muskoka MPP Norm Miller says this program, offered to girls between the ages of five and eight, is a staple in the Muskoka community.
Miller was acting as the provincial representative to present the funding to YWCA Muskoka on Friday in Bracebridge.
YWCA officials warned last year the Girlz Unplugged Program may need to be cut down in size due to a lack of funding.
This would have meant the program, which is run in Muskoka elementary schools, would only run in four of the 17 facilities.
But, Miller says these provincial dollars will make sure Girlz Unplugged is offered in all the Muskoka schools for the next three years.
