Parents Reaching Out grants now available

Parents can start applying for Parents Reaching Out grants for the 2015-2016 school year. The Ministry of Education has been offering these grants to support parents in many initiatives with their children’s schools. Pauline Stevenson with the Simoce-Muskoka Catholic District School Board says these initiatives included buying books for their libraries in different languages.

The Ministry of Education says kids to better in school when their parents take an active role in their education. Stevenson says these grants are part of the Ministry of Education’s push to get parents more involved with their children’s education.

Parent Reaching Out grants have been great for local school councils. Stevenson says she’s received great feedback from parents so far.

The province has given over $15,000 Parent Reaching Out grants to school councils since 2006. Applications are now open for this grant and must be submitted by May 19. Click here for more information.
