The Township of Lake of Bays released a revised draft of the proposed Clean Yards By-law for public review.
The revised draft comes after council identified several areas of the by-law that required further clarity and corrections during the March 10 meeting, directing staff to return with an updated version for public review.
The Clean Yards By-law sets standards for keeping yards and vacant land clean, safe, and orderly.
According to officials, these regulations are enforced primarily on a complaint-driven basis, and their intent was to move these long-standing rules into a standalone by-law to make them easier to find, understand, and apply.
Officials said while there were some minor changes, the regulations in the by-law are not new. These yard maintenance standards have been in place since 2018 under the Property Standards By-law.
Township staff said some of the updates include clearer wording, improved definitions, and several technical corrections.
The draft will be available for residents to review and submit official comments before the next council meeting on April 14.
Residents are encouraged to submit their feedback by visiting the township’s website.
