Lake of Bays residents invited to help shape future of transportation with open house

The Township of Lake of Bays is calling on residents to help shape the future of active transportation in the community.

An Active Transportation Strategy public open house will take place on September 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Municipal Council Chambers in Dwight.

According to officials, the township has retained consultants to assist staff with developing the strategy, which is intended to expand the community’s walking, cycling, and trails network while providing safe active transportation options.

Officials say the strategy will examine existing conditions to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement. It will also establish short, medium, and long-term objectives for active transportation and create a project evaluation tool to help guide future network development and prioritize projects.

At the open house, residents will be able to review findings gathered so far and provide feedback on potential opportunities and priorities for the future.
