A 45-year-old from Brampton has been charged following complaints regarding the unsafe discharge of firearms on public land in Lake of Bays.
According to police, on Sept. 5 at about 6 p.m., Huntsville OPP officers responded to multiple complaints about the unsafe discharge of firearms around OFSC Trail 76.
Police said they were advised that individuals were shooting rifles and handguns and operating a skeet thrower near a nearby family cabin.
During the investigation, officers identified a rifle classified as a prohibited firearm under federal regulations. The rifle remains eligible for the federal firearm amnesty program until Oct. 30.
As a result, a 45-year-old from Brampton was charged with possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm and storing a firearm or restricted weapon.
The accused is slated to appear in court on Nov. 24.
