Table Food Kitchen Foundation to hold its annual Stuff a Truck event on Dec. 13

The Table Food Kitchen Foundation will host its annual Stuff-a-Truck event on Dec. 13 to help those in need in the community.

Heather Cassie, founder of the foundation, announced that this year they will be stationed outside Giant Tiger, Canadian Tire, and Walmart from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“The purpose of the event is to ensure that we have gift items for our Gifts for Kids program and our kids’ Christmas shopping and gifts for adults for all of the table guests at the table, so at least someone will be able to have a gift for Christmas,” said Cassie.

According to Cassie, they will be handing out lists of specific items that shoppers can buy in the stores to contribute to their efforts to secure gifts for children and adults.

Cassie said they will distribute the collected items to children at the ‘Gifts for Kids’ event on Dec. 17 at St. Andrew’s Church. Additionally, gifts for adults will be handed out during their ‘Gift for Adults’ event held at the Table Food Bank from Dec. 16 through 19.

“We’re in need of a whole lot of help right now to get kids a wonderful Christmas, to give them a wonderful Christmas and for the adults in our midst too, that don’t have families, we want to be able to give them treats and other toiletries, hat mitts, scarves, that sort of thing as well,” she said.

She said last year they filled a couple of vehicles, and she hopes to fill even more this year.

Cassie said they will also be accepting cash donations, which will allow them to purchase items from the lists to support the cause, and added they will have multiple community volunteers helping them out throughout the day.
