Bracebridge’s Manna Food Bank to deliver 200 Thanksgiving hampers

The Manna Food Bank in Bracebridge is delivering 200 Thanksgiving hampers to residents throughout the community on Oct. 9.

Brian Bobbette, the food bank’s general manager, said 150 hampers were donated through Fowler Construction, while donations and food drives helped fund an additional 50 hampers.

He said registered clients are receiving either a turkey or ham hamper, distributed by food bank volunteers.

According to Bobbette, demand throughout the community continues to grow, and additional support is needed.

“Year over year we are experiencing an increase in client needs of about 25 to 30 per cent in most areas,” he said. “Client visits are up about 27 per cent.”

He said people can support the food bank and its community initiatives by making monetary donations in person at Manna Food Bank or through e-transfer.
