Gravenhurst seeking public input on the town’s budget priorities for 2026

The Town of Gravenhurst is seeking public input on the town’s budget priorities for 2026.

Draft budget consultation started on Sept. 23.

According to officials, the Town of Gravenhurst’s budget process is different this year because the Government of Ontario expanded strong mayor powers to the municipality on May 1.

In the past, budgets were prepared by staff and presented to council for consideration. This year, Mayor Heidi Lorenz is responsible for preparing and proposing a budget to council.

Officials said, regardless of these changes, there are still various opportunities for the public to participate in the budget process.

Mayor Lorenz’s draft budget will be made available for review on Nov. 7, 2025, on the town’s website, where residents will have an opportunity to share their thoughts.

Following the public review period, Mayor Lorenz will present the draft budget and host a public meeting on Nov. 26.

Officials said the public can participate in the budget process by submitting written comments before the meeting or by providing verbal comments at the podium during the public meeting.
