Town of Gravenhurst launches annual Fire Department Toy Drive

The Town of Gravenhurst Fire Department has launched its 11th annual toy drive to help support families in need this Christmas season.

Officials said during the campaign, firefighters will collect unwrapped toys and deliver them to the local Salvation Army, which will distribute them to families in need during the holidays.

“Over the years we’ve seen a tremendous response from donors in our community, and we anticipate a similar show of support this holiday season,” said Kyle Steele, fire prevention officer for the Gravenhurst Fire Department. “The toy drive is a great way to ensure that no child goes without something special this Christmas.”

Residents are encouraged to drop off toy donations at Fire Station 1 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, until Nov. 30.

Officials also said firefighters will be collecting toy donations at Canadian Tire in Gravenhurst on Nov. 7 and 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., as well as during the Gravenhurst Santa Claus Parade on Saturday, Nov. 28.

“We are grateful to everyone who can contribute to the toy drive this year,” Steele said. “Gravenhurst is an extremely generous place and the support this toy drive receives annually is truly heartwarming.”
