Elexicon Energy has donated $65,000 to support the Gravenhurst Health Hub project.
According to officials, the funds are part of the $435,000 raised by Elexicon during its sixth annual Charity Golf Tournament, held on Aug. 23 at Deer Creek Golf and Country Club in Ajax.
Officials said with the annual event, they provide financial support to registered charities and non-profits across its service territories.
Organization officials said the Gravenhurst Health Hub was selected as one of the six recipients for this year’s tournament.
“We believe our responsibility to the communities we serve goes beyond delivering reliable electricity and investing in the grid. It also means investing in the health, well-being and long-term strength of our communities,” said Amanda Klein, Elexicon president and CEO.
Klein said their donation will help bring the community one step closer to opening its new space, so residents have access to expanded healthcare services they deserve locally.
Dr. Keith Cross, co-chair of the Gravenhurst Health Hub Steering Committee, said this generous donation will help advance the project and bring them closer to opening the new expanded space in 2027.
“The expansion will accommodate the addition of new family physicians and primary care nurse practitioners, while bringing much-needed healthcare support services and diagnostic imaging closer to home for our community,” said Cross.
The project is a community-led initiative aimed at expanding access to local primary care, diagnostics, and wellness services by transforming the second floor of a two-storey building already owned by the Cottage Country Family Health Team.
