Fourth candidate for District of Muskoka Chair steps forward

With one day until nominations for District of Muskoka Chair close, a former Huntsville politician has thrown his hat into the ring.

Tim Withey, who finished third in the race to be Huntsville’s mayor during last month’s municipal election, is the fourth candidate to come forward. Withey was elected as one of Huntsville’s district representatives in 2018.

He joins former three-term Barrie Mayor Jeff Lehman, long-time Gravenhurst politician Terry Pilger, and current Bracebridge district councillor Don Smith.

The cut-off for potential candidates to submit their nomination papers of Nov. 15.

A debate between the candidates will be held on Nov. 28 at 3 PM and will be moderated by Bracebridge lawyer Jean Polak. Questions can be submitted for the debate ahead of time by district councillors, members of the public, and the media.

A secret ballot vote will be held by district council on Dec. 5 to choose the next chair.
