There could be a private company running the Big Sound Marina and Town Dock this summer.

At this week’s council meeting, it was revealed that shortly after staff was directed to looking into the logistics of the town running the facilities in house, Massasauga Management Company sent a letter in interest to the Town.

This past fall, staff put out a request for proposals to see if there was any private sector interest in managing the Big Sound Marina only with no proposals coming in.

Massasauga Management Company is looking to operate the Big Sound Marina and the Town Dock with 25 seasonal slips and 95 transient slips.

After much debate and worry over stepping on the toes of local marinas, a direction to speak with the interested company and negotiate an operating contract.
