According to Harry Baranik, the deputy fire chief for the Township of Muskoka Lakes, the vehicle had fallen off a barge in Milford Bay. A photo from the scene shows the vehicle half-submerged in the water, near a boat launch. The boat launch appears to be at the end of Butter and Egg Road in the community. Baranik also said the province’s Ministry of Environment has been told about what happened, though he was unsure if they would be responding. The fire department was responding to the area to get an idea of what was going on “from the environmental point of view”. According to Baranik, any pollution would be the responsibility of the company who had spilled to clean up.
