Fundraising for Huntsville fire victim organized

Friends and family of a Huntsville man who died in a fire are trying to raise funds for his family.

The South Lancelot Road home Geza Czirak and his family were in caught fire Saturday night. His wife Christina Hamilton and their two kids managed to escape, but Czirak’s body was found in the house.

A close family friend, Sue Heinrich of Dorset, has organized a GoFundMe account, to help the family recover from the blaze. The goal is $50,000.  Currently, just over $5,000 has been raised.

She says everyone is in a state of shock and starting the fund was one small thing she could do to help Czirak’s wife.

“When you are grieving it is impossible to think about the next steps you have to take and there are so many arrangements and you have lost your home,” she says. “I felt that I certainly had the time to help in a small way. I cannot help with funeral arrangements. I can’t take that burden away from them. But I can help by making people aware how hard it is to lose not only someone you love but everything you own.”

Donations of household items are being accepted where Czirak worked, Axiom Audio, at 2885 Highway 60 in Dwight.

A memorial for Czirak is being held at the Huntsville Legion this Saturday from 1:00pm to 3:00pm.
