Bracebridge Lions coat drive keeping people warm

Keeping people warm this winter.

That is the goal of the annual Bracebridge Lions coat drive.

The club is collecting coats as part of their coat/winter clothing drive. Clothing is then handed out at Out of the Cold dinners every Wednesday.

The Lion’s are not the only organization gathering coats this year, so organizer Dana Hart says donations are behind previous years.

“We’re a little behind the target but the Diabetes boxes have been put around town at the various schools,” she explains.

“We have been putting out a large table at the Lions hall for the Out of the Cold dinners,” she confirms. “There have been quite a few internal donations from Lion’s members as well as people seeing our ad on the community calendar.

“There is a lot of need in this area for children as well.

“We’re seeing a lot more of that happening at the Out of the Cold too. It’s a good feeling knowing they are dressed warm for our winters.”

Hart says the Out of the Cold dinner on Wednesday, December 12th will be the last before the holidays.

Four members of the Lions club, Patty Craymer, Jodee Tonge, Dana Hart and Dianne Kitchen are the main thrust behind the important program.

If you wish to make a donation you can call the Lions Club at 705 646-2394. Or email Dana Hart at [email protected] or Lions President Mike Guiry at [email protected] to arrange a pickup or drop-off location.
