Wide-spread technical issues at DriveTest led to frustrated drivers

If you have been struggling to book an appointment, do an inter-provincial license transfer or anything else involving the central computer system at DriveTest Ontario recently, you were not alone.

According to Bob Nichols of the Ministry of Transportation, the outsourced agency responsible for administering driver’s tests experienced a province-wide issue with its system. Nichols told Moose FM the computer system outage impacted all inside and online driver services.

Road tests were still being conducted and all services have now been restored. A quick check on the web revealed there were no notices to the public about this service issue and no news releases distributed to the media. This was later confirmed with a call directly from DriveTest.
