Two local beaches closed for more sharp objects search

The town of Bracebridge is closing two beaches again.

Kirby’s Beach Park and Bracebridge Bay Park will be closed over the Victoria Day Long Weekend as scuba crews scan the water for sharp objects. Town officials say the search will help decide if more cleanup efforts are needed next week.

Volunteer divers from the Scuba Shack in Gravenhurst are taking on the search.

This comes after sharp objects were discovered on beaches in Gravenhurst and Bracebridge. A group calling itself the Islamic Revolutionary Force claimed responsibility for the vandalism and threatened more. The OPP is investigating.
