An alleged kidnapper is back in court today

The man who is charged with kidnapping is in Huntsville court today. Huntsville OPP says on August 28^th, John Merkel allegedly forced a victim to stay at a residence for 24 hours. In that time, the 27-year-old assaulted and threatened the victim. He also took the victim to a local bank and forced him to take out cash from his account. Police also say two more people have been arrested in the case, but can’t release any more details because of a publication ban. Merkel is also charged with assault, breach of probation and possession of a controlled substance.
