Supplied. The Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department has noticed a growing demand for rescue equipment. The fire department says as recreational sports continue to grow in our area, emergency departments are relying on specialized gear to ensure public safety. Over the weekend, Baysville fire crews needed their ATV and rescue sled twice. The first call was to help someone get off of the ice, and the second call was for an injured snowmobiler who was hurt after hitting a pressure crack on the ice. The Port Sydney crew needed its UTV and rescue sled as well over the weekend, to help an injured snowmobiler around two kilometres from the main road in Utterson.
