Huntsville OPP looking for a “quick change” suspect

The OPP is asking the town for information on a “quick change” suspect. On January 5th, a man was in Metro on King William Street, and did a quick change with the cashier. The OPP says that means he bought a few groceries before asking the cashier for change. He gave the cashier a number of large bills and asked for smaller ones in exchange. He then allegedly slid some up his sleeve, returned to the cashier, and asked for his money back.

The Metro employees found out at the end of the day when the till was out money.

The OPP describes the suspect as having black hair, black facial hair, white skin colour and wearing a grey jacket, and a hoodie. The police also say it’s a good reminder to all employees to be aware of “quick change” artists. The OPP says it’s good practice to have a supervisor around if someone is asking to change larger bills to smaller ones.

Anyone with information on the “quick change” artist is asked to call the OPP at 705-789-5551 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
